A Land Cruiser faces an approaching storm on the Bolivian Altiplano at 12,000 feet elevation. The world's largest salt flat becomes a mirror, the storm ahead becomes the void, and the vehicle becomes human presence at the threshold. This is the moment before crossing, the pause before entering uncertainty. The near-monochrome blue creates an otherworldly atmosphere; the reflection doubles the emptiness. At this elevation with thin air and brutal conditions, the altiplano is as alien and extreme as Antarctica. The forward-facing vehicle creates more tension than departure; this is anticipation, the decision point before crossing into the storm.
